The Hôtel L’Antoine is proud of its neighbourhood

The Hotel L'Antoine is located a few steps from the Place de la Bastille and the very trendy streets of the Marais. However, it is also and above all at the centre of a district with a strong personality: the Faubourg Saint-Antoine. Read on as we introduce you to the personality of this place so that you will be ready to explore its charms during your stay in Paris. Follow us!

The key to the history of the Faubourg: cabinetmaking

If we go back a few centuries, the Faubourg Saint-Antoine was not directly part of Paris. It was a suburb that housed craftsmen and upholsterers who supplied the beautiful private mansions of the Marais, the royal palaces, and other prestigious clients. This tradition is still very much alive, as you’ll see if you visit the Passage du Chantier. This narrow, cobblestoned street, only accessible on foot and seemingly timeless, hosts several traditional cabinetmakers. You can also admire the creations of the Straure brand, born 35 years ago from the friendship of two craftsmen, and located less than five minutes on foot from the hotel.

Shopping and delicacies

A little further, in the Rue de Charonne, you can visit the FrenchTrotters concept store. For 18 years, this store that looks like a treasure chest has been offering a selection of cutting-edge fashion, footwear and lifestyle creations from all over the world. Stay in the same street to make two great gourmet discoveries. Mokoloco welcomes young chefs and gives them carte blanche to delight you without emptying your wallet, and Clamato, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, invites you to a delicious tasting of tapas-style seafood and shellfish. Finally, don’t miss the district’s big market, the Marché d’Aligre. Bringing together second-hand goods dealers and food vendors, it offers a charming and colourful experience!

Popular and lively, trendy but unpretentious, the Faubourg Saint-Antoine district is full of surprises and totally endearing. Go for a wander around it during your stay at the Hotel L'Antoine. Our team will be delighted to share their best recommendations.
